Growing up in Canada, with the Prairies on one side and on the Boreal Forest the other, I felt a special connection with nature. Spending hours as a child, toting my drawing book alongside while I foraged, I often found myself escaping into a world of magic.
As an adult, not much has changed, except that these days I tote my drawing book around the bustling streets of central London. You might find me admiring life in all its forms at central parks, London galleries, and my personal favourite, Kew Gardens. I continue to study at Heatherley School of Fine Art in Chelsea, London, in combination with self-taught, trial and error.
My life experiences profoundly influence my art, leading me to merge old master techniques with a bold infusion of impressionistic, impasto, and abstract painting methods. I employ vibrant, often exaggerated pastel colors, create curvaceous brush strokes, and explore various genres, including landscape, still life, and portraiture.
A supporter of sustainable practices, I actively incorporate up-cycling ♻. Feel free to get in touch if you have a painting or print you would like enhanced, or with any other inquiry ashtonrutz.art@gmail.com
